Chick-fil-A Opens New Outlet at Liberty Station
San Diego has welcomed a new Chick-fil-A restaurant at Liberty Station as of Thursday, March 6. The popular eatery, known for its chicken sandwiches and waffle fries, marks a significant addition to the local food scene.
Local Leadership and Community Focus
The new location at 2401 Truxtun Road, led by Matt Hughes, will cater to the community’s needs with dine-in, takeaway, curbside pick-up, and delivery options. Open from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, this venue aims to bring more than just food to the table.
Matt Hughes isn’t a newcomer to Chick-fil-A or the San Diego area. Having started his journey with Chick-fil-A as a high school team member, Hughes’s dedication saw him climb through the ranks. This led to his role in the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program where he helped launch several locations on the West Coast. Hughes became the local Owner-Operator of San Diego’s first Chick-fil-A in 2006 and continues to manage Chick-fil-A Sports Arena.
“The vision for our new restaurant is to provide a meaningful employment experience and unmatched care for our community, both within our four walls and beyond,” Hughes explained. His commitment is shown through the planned employment of 60 additional team members, bringing the total to about 150 across his two Point Loma restaurants.
Community Engagement and Support
Chick-fil-A emphasizes giving back to the communities where its restaurants operate. The Liberty Station opening has been celebrated with a $25,000 donation to Feeding America to support local hunger relief via Feeding San Diego. Furthermore, they’re set to join the Chick-fil-A® Shared Table program, which sends surplus food to local food banks and charities.
Hughes’s plan includes engaging with local organizations to tailor philanthropic efforts like this to the San Diego community’s specific needs. He added, “We find joy in going the extra mile to serve the San Diego community, and I’m excited and humbled to expand this vision and the opportunities we can provide.”
In addition to nonprofit involvement, Chick-fil-A Liberty Station is recognizing 100 local heroes impacting the San Diego area by giving them free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
Here’s what that means for locals:
- More Dining Options: The restaurant increases the local variety of food choices available, catering to both early birds and night owls.
- Job Opportunities: With the hiring of 60 new team members, the local employment landscape will see a positive change.
- Community Support: Continuation of community-focused initiatives ensures that the opening of this new location is a boon for more than just food lovers.
Conclusion
With a solid track record and a clear focus on community and personal growth, the new Chick-fil-A at Liberty Station isn’t just another fast-food restaurant. It’s a community hub set to serve and support the San Diego area in various meaningful ways. Here’s to delicious food and the difference it can help make!
